Hyrum Explorer's
About Hyrum Explorer’s:
Hyrum Explorer’s meets the second Tuesday of the month this Summer and invites kids to step into the roles of curious young scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and artists. Each session encourages critical thinking, creativity, and discovery through hands-on activities with peers. Space is limited, so check back often for registration dates! Registration is required, and space is limited.

Past Program Sessions
June 10 Session – The Magic of Magnetism
Magnetism is one of nature’s fundamental forces, playing a role in everything from motors and electrical generators to computer storage and medical imaging. In this session, young explorers will dive into the science of magnets—how they interact, their connection to electricity, and how we can visualize invisible magnetic fields using a fascinating liquid called ferrofluid. Check back often for upcoming dates!
July 8th Session - Angular Momentum
Why are tops well balanced when spinning? How do ice skaters rotate quickly during their jumps? The answer to these questions lies in understanding angular momentum. Scientists leverage the conservation of angular momentum for many applications from helping planes fly smoothly to predicting the weather and speed of planets. In this session of Hyrum Explorers, we will visualize angular momentum through whirly demos to help twist our minds around this spinning subject.
