SENIOR ACCOUNTANT & INTERNAL AUDITOR
Employment Classification: Full Time with Benefits
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Salary Range: $45.68 – $57.70
Hiring Range $45.68 - $50.21 depending on experience

Hyrum City is seeking a full time Senior Accountant/Internal Auditor. Responsibilities include professional accounting, budgetary, and payroll functions essential to the establishment, analysis, updating, auditing, reconciling, and maintenance of financial records. Support the City's payroll, accounting, and budget systems, and involves providing administrative support in the review, analysis, and development of designated budgets and accounts. Responsible for preparing and auditing a variety of financial, statistical, and budgetary reports, statements, and records.

Knowledge of principles, laws, rules and regulations relating to municipal government accounting principles practices and procedures (GAAFR, GAAP, GASB, Utah Money Management Act, Utah Transparency Act); public finance and fiscal planning; municipal organizations and department operations including applicable laws and regulations; internal control principles and methods of application; budgeting, accounting and related statistical procedures; various revenue sources available to local governments including state and federal sources; local investment options and opportunities; general office maintenance and
practices; basic personnel management practices and procedures; computer accounting applications and various software financial programs; business and technical writing; operation of standard office equipment; mathematics and advanced accounting; interpersonal communication skills and telephone etiquette; public relations.

Required Education and Experience:

•  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in accounting, or finance (CPA License preferred);

AND

• Four (4) years of responsible experience related to the above duties in governmental accounting and/or directly relevant experience in accounting.

This position may be filled at Accountant & Internal Auditor Level II by applicants who do not meet the requirements for Senior Accountant & Internal Auditor.

Salary Range: $31.10 – $38.25
Hiring Range $31.10 - $34.60 depending on experience

Required Education and Experience:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or finance;

AND

• Four (4) years of responsible experience related to the above duties in governmental accounting and/or directly relevant experience in accounting.

OR

•  An equivalent combination of education and experience in governmental accounting.

Work Schedule:
Normally Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some overtime as needed.
